Summer and Winter School

SUMMER SCHOOL 26th - 31st July 2021

The Summer School 2021, a 5 days workshop was an initiative on ‘Linkages in Landscapes’ in order to spread awareness and provide integrated Landscape Design Strategies to conserve the wildlife and associated forest reserves which are highly disturbed by habitat fragmentation, developmental activities and increased Human Wildlife conflicts.

The workshop was a wonderful opportunity for Landscape Architects and Architects to learn from Wildlife Officers and Environmentalists to save our “Mother Nature”. Workshop had a subsequent sessions by eminent speakers from multiple domains covering Wildlife Conservationist, Indian Forest Service Officials, Specialist from Dept. of Zoology, Dept. of Landscape guided the participants with their experience and crucial advisory towards a collective act of protection and conservation with design considerations. With the understanding and knowledge shared, the outcome of the workshop was focused on Ratapani Tiger Reserve was put across in the form of policy making and comprehensive landscape development plan for the areas in question that were identified through analysis and synthesis.

WINTER SCHOOL 6th - 11th January 2021

The Winter School January 2021, a 5 days workshop was focused on ‘Eco Cultural Restoration of Riparian zone’. The river fronts are most special and contested landscapes of a region. Landscape designers over time have focused on nothing more to edge beautification, irrigation design, flood mitigation, waste management and other problems of the time.

This workshop parallelly intended to provide educational programs that promote knowledge building, skill development and scholarly enquiry to meet the professional challenges, international educational standards and needs of our diverse community. The winter course led to discussion and understanding of mapping, designing of the riparian zones effectively. The participants were shared with nuisances and processes within the flood plain. The course was taken by students, professionals and faculty of Architecture, landscape Architecture, and Urban design members that enhanced key and crucial understandings towards a sensitive approach.
